Digital Advent Calendar - Day 18

A lof of digital camera users keep their camera in the automatic (green rectangle) and program modes.  I recommend you try experimenting with the various programmed scene modes as they can help improve your photography. Here are a few examples:

• SPORTS MODE - will select the fastest shutter speed possible to freeze action.  I suggest this mode for photos of young children who are unlikely to stand still!
• PORTRAIT MODE - will select a shallow depth of field thus concentrating on the main subject.
• MACRO MODE - will select the minimum focus distance of the lens enabling you to fill the frame with your chosen subject.  Ensure you're on the widest angle lens setting to ensure closest possible focusing distance.
