100th Post! Worldwide Photo Walk (Shetland Edition) 2010 Sign Up Now
Wow! I can't believe I've reached my 100th blog post already. Since my first post on the 1st February 2009 the blog has developed content-wise and number of viewers continues to grow, so a big thank you to everyone that has been tuning in.Having reached this milestone I would like to take the opportunity to announce that for the second year running I will be leading the Shetland version of the Worldwide Photo Walk on Saturday 24th July 2010.
The Worldwide Photo Walk is the world’s largest global social photography event in the history of photography itself. It takes place on the same day around the world where photographers of all walks of life and skill levels gather together, usually in downtown areas to socialize, learn new tips from each other, and explore their corner of the world through photography.
In addition to enjoying a day of photography with other like-minded individuals, participants may also be eligible to win prizes from the Worldwide Photo Walk’s sponsors if their photo is chosen as the best photo of the day by their walk leader.
Each winning walk photo is then entered into a global competition where Scott Kelby picks the single “best photo” of the event along with 10 runners-up. Full details are available at: http://worldwidephotowalk.com/
This year I’m planning on staging the walk outside the Shetland Museum & Archives. Here we’ll have access to some excellent photo opportunities including Hay’s Dock, amazing architecture, construction work and the small boat harbour.
The event is FREE and open to all ages, abilities and types of cameras. The main objective of the event is to enjoy taking some photos. I shall be on hand to answer any questions you may have.
The walk begins and ends at the front entrance to the Shetland Museum and Archives and lasts from 11am-1pm. I then aim to have a review session upstairs at the Hay’s Dock Cafe for those that are able to stay on.
